Wireless Network Engineer
|
Job Summary
The successful candidate will work as a member of an elite wireless engineering group to plan, design, implement and manage enterprise wireless networks. The candidate will have solid experience working with large enterprise deployments of advanced wireless infrastructure, routers, switches and gateways and will demonstrate enthusiasm to pursue expertise in unified communications and security solutions. The Wireless Engineer must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be client-focused, service driven and able to multitask. This is a position that requires cross-functional duties with pre-sales engineering support, consulting/professional services delivery and post-installation technical support. The Wireless Engineer will provide technical pre-sales and post-sales architecture assistance for prospects and clients.
Responsibilities
- Design and planning of 802.11a/b/g technology, wireless guest access
- Design and planning of 802.11n technology
- Design and planning of Active/Passive RFID technology
- Able to effectively prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments
- Excellent customer service focus and analytical problem solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
- Expertise and certifications related to wireless technologies such as CCIE/CCNP for wireless, CWNA and CCNA/CCDA preferred
- Excellent communicator with all levels of staff, both verbally and writing
- Ability to effectively plan and collaborate with others
- Ability to present ideas and new designs to senior technical personnel and management
- Knowledge of wireless engineering tools such as AirMagnet, OmniPeek, Cognio, etc…
- Proficiency in wireless security authentication methods such as LEAP, EAP-FAST, PEAP, WPA(2) Capable of wireless troubleshooting methodologies and techniques
- Knowledge of enterprise based wireless components
- Communicate and collaborate in cross-functional team with Security and other related departments.
- Validate the impact of configuration changes on network behavior and performance prior to deployment.
- Perform lab tests on all infrastructure upgrades and work with vendors on code train developments.
- Document and participate in centralized function design, process design, and standard definition work.
Summary of Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or at least 5 years of high-level network planning and design experience.
- Must have direct experience in designing and implementation of wireless 802.11a/b/g.
- Must have strong experience in secure mobility design, and voice/video over WLAN design.
- Must understand QoS and how to design/deploy QoS in WLAN to carry voice and video.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills that enable the communication of complex, technical information to team members and other project teams. Must be skilled at creating and documenting processes and procedures in a large technical organization.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within and between project teams.
- Strong understanding of general network security.
- Strong understanding of enterprise routing/switching.
- Ability to obtain and retain Department of Defense Security Clearance
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing (drug and background)
- Must be U.S. Citizen (required for DOD Security Clearance)
- Some travel will be required
